LOS OLVIDADOS (Luis Buñuel, 1950)

A film starring two young people living in the poorest neighborhoods of Mexico City, facing violence, abandonment, and inequality.

From the perspective of architect María Bustamante Harfush, the film will be analyzed as a visual document of invisible urban heritage: run-down neighborhoods, vacant lots, precarious buildings, and outskirts that, although excluded from the official imagination, are fundamental to understanding the social and spatial history of Mexico City in the 1950s.

This review invites us to reflect on the importance of the cultural and heritage value that some architectural spaces still hold in the collective memory of the city, as is still the case, for example, in La Romita, the neighborhood where the film was shot.
