Troka the Mighty, a paper theater performance with Alejandro Benítez based on the character of Germán List Arzubide
Troka is a robot made from different machine parts: it has a radio antenna head, two light bulbs in its eyes, its mouth is a horn, it has a locomotive foot, a tractor foot and an airplane wing on its back.
This Mexican superhero robot was the protagonist of a children's radio program created by Germán List Arzubide and set to music by Silvestre Revueltas in the early 1930s, in order to bring Mexican children closer to the city's new achievements and technological advances, such as industrial production or new means of transport and communication. Troka the Mighty is “the spirit of mechanical things”.
This adaptation of Troka the Mighty is a miniature theater show based on the original character from the beginning of the 20th century, with poetry by Manuel Maples Arce, Germán List Arzubide, León Felipe and Pablo Neruda; engravings by Ramón Alva de la Canal, Julio Prieto and Elvira Gascón; and music by maestro Silvestre Revueltas.
