Luz instante is a journey through a series of optical artifacts that create a sensory continuum.

Luz instante is a journey through a series of optical artifacts that generate a continuous sensorial experience. Each piece, by fusing light, space and time, encourages us to experiment with our bodies. It is an invitation for each participant to own and inhabit the artworks from their own place. Presence is the factor that activates them, because when entering a space, in turn, it enters us and the experience becomes an exchange, a fusion between subject and object, in a here and now of light constituted by the spatial encounters.
This passage through light begins with an artwork on outside, composed of a series of hanging prisms and mirrors placed at ground level, which come to life and dialogue with the sun's rays, causing temporary, intermittent, random effects with their reflections. Towards the interior of the exhibition room, on the other hand, light appears as a controlled physical agent, which becomes a substantial element of optical artifacts. The pieces emulate phenomena that occur in nature, in everyday situations that we can see, but not always observe. In this way, they become extensions of the human body that lead us to size spaces that seem unusual, but are there, in our day-to-day life. They are devices that fuse the materiality of specular surfaces with introspection, emotional impressions, and curiosity.
The artifacts transform during the journey and delimit the interaction or open it to contain us, dosing the perceptual involvement, first the eye and then the body, as if we were progressively activating our sensory capacities. This play with the viewer's perception within the different spaces causes immersive situations that lead to a unique moment of discovery. From her experiments with space, virtual sculptures emerge, geometric and illusory three-dimensional figurations that are discovered inside her kaleidoscopes. ‘Sculptures of light’ Julia calls them because light is precisely the substance of these pieces.
With the exhibition Luz instante, Julia Carrillo moves a part of her experimentation laboratory to Espacio Arte Abierto. The exhibit is the result of her studies on light, especially on how it creates spaces and the ability it gives us to perceive what we inhabit, distinguish certain atmospheres, and recognize moments.
