Three-day workshop with Sandra Sánchez and Pablo Rasgado exploring imagination as a political tool through wild references, body practices and key artistic examples. Participants review their work, expand frameworks, share imaginative actions and create a collective manual to fracture and re-enchant given realities.
This 3-day practical theoretical workshop will address the role of imagination as a political tool, specifically, an artistic imagination that abandons solitude to come into contact with wild knowledge, local practices, materials and specific narratives. Examples will be given and exercises will be done to locate a problem or field of reality that is sought to fracture through imaginative action. It is not a question of proposing something new, but of fracturing what has been given to re-enchant it and make it make sense again.

Pablo Rasgado teaches
At Arte Aberto Pedregal
The first part will consist of a review of the participants' work, followed by an exercise in “wild references”: an open intersection of images, texts and case studies between tutors and participants to expand the frameworks from which each artist is working. During the second part, and based on the collected references, we will review key examples that have marked past decades to analyze how the artistic system is reconfigured in the present, taking as its axis the question what defines artistic practice today?

At Arte Aberto Pedregal
During the first part of the session, we will perform body exercises to disarticulate the central gaze and open it to listening and haptics. During the second part, we will discuss how the artist's body can open up a political space based on examples of pieces by Ana Mendieta, Vito Acconci, Verónica Gerber, Regina José Galindo and Tania Bruguera, as well as texts by Marlene Dumas and Brian Massumi.

At Obrera Centro
Reversing teaching roles, in this session the workshop attendees will bring an imaginative action exercise with their respective wild references to share with the group. We will use floating attention and free association as means of listening and collective feedback. We will discuss their strategies and create a collective manual to open a space based on imaginative actions.
