This two-day laboratory taught by Nicolás Poggi is aimed at creators, researchers and dancers who have an interest in exploring possibilities of the movement-space relationship from individual to collective practice.

Bio
Nicolás Poggi

Director, choreographer, creator, performer, teacher and manager.

Nicolás Poggi's practice revolves around improvisation, choreography and performance. His search is based on the body as primary matter at the time of creating and searching for new languages for the scene. HIERRO is his research work on the idea of rethinking dance (movement) through the question “where does the monstrous lie?”, thinking of the monstrous as a place of discomfort, vulnerability and the new/strange. He has been working on this research for 10 years, in collaboration with other artists.

Nicolás Poggi studied theater, dance and visual arts at the Teatro San Martín and at the National University of Patagonia (Argentina). His greatest learning was and is autonomous. He focused on improvisation techniques with João Fiadeiro, Meg Stuart (Goethe-Institut), Eugenia Estévez and Luis Garay, among others, which helped him to create his own language.

His work was presented in different spaces and countries, such as the Chopo University Museum, the Spanish Cultural Center (Mexico and Argentina), the Buenos Aires Museum of Contemporary Art and the 2019 Venice Biennial, among other international festivals. He is the creator of the company Motos Ninja (Mexico) and of the work A Red Poyo, winner of several awards and distinctions, who lives in France with more than 1000 performances.

He is currently artistic director of the contemporary youth dance company DAJU-UNAM.

He has participated in several national and international festivals such as the Venice Biennial (ITALY), Edinburgh Festival (United Kingdom), American Dance Festival (USA), Théâtre du Rond-Point and the Avignon Festival (France), Edinburgh Fringe Festival (Scotland), Festival Santiago a Mil (Chile) and others.
