A journey through the history of northern Los Cabos, where grand estates, churches, lighthouses, and monuments reveal the traces of those who once inhabited this land and the events that transformed its landscape.
For this second talk on Baja Art and Architecture Derives, historian Gustavo de la Peña invites us to explore the northern area of the Los Cabos municipality through the stories embedded in its buildings and spaces.
Through a narrative journey, we will discover places that witnessed different stages of the region's history: the boom years of sugarcane cultivation, trade with Pacific ports, and events linked to the Revolution. Mansions, churches, lighthouses, and funerary monuments emerge as material traces of a territory in constant transformation.
The drift proposes approaching these spaces through memory, recognizing in their walls, forms, and vestiges the stories of those who inhabited them, as well as the events that have helped shape the identity of Los Cabos.
