QUEEN SKITTLES

QUEEN SKITTLES
From a very young age, the weak vision of her right-eye forced Andrés Catalina to interpret the objects of her surrounding world from a different point of view. Instead of distinguishing any object in its common shape and color, she sees diffuse light fractals in a multicolored palette that distort what she perceives, which allow her to create a universe with her own iconosphere everytime she decides to close her left eye with which she sees the everyday world. Within this universe, the artist sees herself as (Queen Skittles) a keeper of keys, who allows the passage of the ideas about what “should be” mixed with what she sees. Her work documents the deconstruction of this fictional world where nature and its traditional ways of life portray the exaggerated cult of pop culture.
